The FIFA World Cup 2022 will take place in Qatar and is expected to start on November 20 and end on December 18, 2022. Due to the intense summer heat in Qatar, organizers chose November to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Group A – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022
Group A features Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, and the Netherlands, as shown in the table below. On November 20, at 16:00 at the Al Bayt Stadium, a game between Qatar and Ecuador will take place. A day later, at 10:00 at the Al Thumama Stadium, Senegal will face the Netherlands. Qatar will face Senegal on November 25 at 13:00 on the same field, while the Netherlands will face Ecuador on the same day at 16:00 at the Khalifa International Stadium. The Netherlands and Qatar games will be played at 15:00 on November 29 at the Al Bayt Stadium. The Qatari national football team has not qualified for a single FIFA World Cup since the country’s independence in 1971. Although the national squad has never advanced past the World Cup quarterfinals, Qatar has routinely participated in the AFC Asian Cup. By hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup Fixtures and not making the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Qatar became the second nation to compete in the World Cup without making the cut, after Italy in the FIFA World Cup of 1934.
In January 2022, FIFA President Gianni Infantino recognized the improvements achieved by Qatar in the areas of labor legislation, worker protection, and minimum wage while also highlighting the need for further improvements. Since 2017, the Qatari government has taken steps to improve the working conditions for migrant workers.
Qatar has improved significantly despite criticism, one of which was their unexpected triumph in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. This victory is significant because it shows they can cause even more surprises during their first World Cup appearance.
The Ecuadorian national football team will have attended three FIFA World Cups, the ultimate international competition for national football teams, with a fourth trip planned for 2022. Ecuador’s first World Cup appearance came in 2002. When they lost in Round 16 in 2006, they had their best performance.
From 1930 through 1938, Ecuador did not try to reach the Football World Cup Fixtures. Ecuador initially took part in the 1950 World Cup qualifying round before withdrawing. Ecuador opted out of the tournaments held between 1954 and 1958. From 1962 through 1998, Ecuador was absent from the premier football event in the globe. They won their first qualifying in 2002 after finishing second in South America. The participant qualified for the second edition in 2006 after finishing third in South America. Ecuador missed the World Cup finals for the third consecutive year in 2010 and finished sixth in South America. Ecuador was again permitted to participate in the 2014 competition before being excluded from the 2018 competition.
Senegal has two FIFA World Cup appearances under its belt, making it to the quarterfinals in 2002 and 2018, respectively. They were the only team in World Cup history to be eliminated using the fair play rule after being tied with Japan on the first six tiebreakers.
After participating in two consecutive World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978, the team’s longest World Cup streak three straight tournaments was during the 1990s. Two years after winning the European Championship there, the Netherlands was ousted by West Germany in the Round of 16 of UEFA Euro 1990. Brazil eliminated the Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the 1994 tournament. Brazil overcame Croatia in the third-place play-off and the Netherlands in the semifinals in 1998. In the Battle of Nuremberg, a Round of 16 match, Portugal eliminated the Netherlands when they returned in 2006. The team reached their third World Cup final in 2010, but Spain won the match after they were given a record twenty-four yellow and one yellow card.
Group B – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022
As can be seen, Group B features games including England, Wales, Iran, and the United States. One of the opening Group B matches is England vs. Iran on November 21 at 13:00 at the Khalifa International Stadium, while the USA takes on Wales on the same day at 19:00 at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. Wales vs. Iran will take place at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium at 10:00 on November 25. England vs. the USA will take place at the Al Bayt Stadium at 19:00 on the same day. The England national football team has competed in the FIFA World Cup since 1950. The most prominent international football competition is the FIFA World Cup. Since it was first played in 1930, the finals have been held every four years, except for 1942 and 1946 due to World War II.
The two phases of the tournament are the qualification phase and the final phase (officially called the World Cup Finals). The qualification phase, which currently takes place three years prior to the finals, determines which teams move on to the finals. Thirty-two teams play in the finals under their current format over the course of around a month at venues across the host country (or nations). The 2006 World Cup Finals attracted an estimated 715.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched athletic event in the world.
England joined the league in 1950 and has taken part in each of the eighteen competitions since then. In 1950, 1958, and 2014 they failed to make it out of the group stage, while in 1974 (against West Germany), 1978 (against Argentina), and 1994 they failed to make it to the finals (against the United States). When they won the cup in the England-based competition in 1966, they had their best-ever performance. Both in 1990 in Italy and in 2018 in Russia, they finished fourth. The group has advanced to the quarterfinals nine times overall, most recently in 2018. (Russia).
Iran has taken part in the FIFA World Cup on six occasions: in 1978, 1998, 2006, 2014, 2018, and 2022. They failed to go past the group stage at any point.
The United States men’s national soccer team has participated in 10 World Cups; their best result came in their inaugural competition, where they finished third in 1930. Following the 1950 World Cup, where they defeated England 1-0 in group play, the United States did not take part in the championship matches again until 1990. The United States participated in every World Cup from 1990 to 2014, however, after losing to Trinidad & Tobago in 2018, they failed to earn a spot in the 2018 tournament for the first time since 1986. They returned to the World Cup after earning a spot in the 2022 edition.

Argentina is one of the most successful national football teams in the world, having won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986. In 1930, 1990, and 2014, Argentina came in second place three times. The team placed third in terms of appearances only after Brazil and Germany, having participated in all but four World Cups (with the 2022 edition included, to be played).
In addition, Uruguay and Argentina have combined for the most Copa América victories (15). In addition, Argentina won the Confederations Cup, the gold medal, and the 2004 and 2008 Olympic football competitions. Two silver medals from the 1928 and 1996 games were previously won by Argentina. Six times in different international competitions, Argentina has won the U-20 World Cup. Aside from the U-17 World Cup, Argentina has failed to win any FIFA international competitions.
Saudi Arabia has competed in six FIFA World Cup tournaments, including those held in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2018, and the upcoming World Cup in 2022. Their best performance came in 1994 when they made it to the round of 16.
Mexico has competed in the event since the first World Cup in 1930, taking part in a total of 16 tournaments, however on three occasions – in 1934 (against Italy), 1974 (against West Germany), and 1982 it has not made it to the actual finals (Spain). Additionally, after fielding players who were overage during the youth tournament for the 1988 Olympic Games qualifiers, it withdrew from the finals in 1938 (France) and was banned by FIFA from participating in the 1990 World Cup (Italy).
Mexico pulled off one of the biggest upsets by defeating the defending World Champions Germany 1-0 in the World Cup opening in 2018. Mexico and Brazil are tied for the most consecutive second-round appearances.
Poland has taken part in eight World Cups, starting with the inaugural tournament in 1938, where they fell to Brazil in a gripping 5-6 thriller. 36 years later, Poland finally made it into the World Cup, and when they did, they shocked everyone by overcoming England in the qualifiers and finishing third twice in the 1974 and 1982 tournaments. Poland’s dominance in international football started to wane after participating in 1986.
Since the end of communist rule in the nation in 1989, Poland has been able to qualify for 2002, 2006, and 2018 FIFA World Cups. However, the team was unable to duplicate the success of its predecessors, exiting the group stage of all three tournaments with two opening losses before gaining a reaffirming victory in the final match.
Group D – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022

In the 1958 Swedish edition, Denmark entered the competition for the first time. However, they lost all four of their qualification games to England and Ireland.
They qualified for the tournament for the first time in 1986, winning all three of their Group Stage contests, including a 2-0 triumph over West Germany, but they lost to Spain in the next round. The Danish national team has continued to make appearances in the FIFA World Cup Finals ever since, and in Qatar 2022, they will make their sixth appearance. Their best performance came in 1998 when they made it to the quarterfinals.
Tunisia has participated in the FIFA World Cup finals five times, including today, March 29, since their debut in the 1978 tournament, where they finished ninth. Between 1998 and 2006, they enjoyed a run of three World Cup qualifying matches. For the sixth time, they will participate in the FIFA World Cup championships in Qatar in 2022. Tunisia, on the other hand, has never advanced past the group stage.
The French team won the World Cup for the first time in 1998. In the competition’s championship game, France defeated Brazil 3-0 at home. In 1938, France served as the competition’s host; nevertheless, Italy, the current champion, beat France in the quarterfinals. France defeated Croatia 4-2 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia to win the World Cup for the second time in 2018.
In 2006, Italy defeated France (5-3) on penalties after the game ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes. France finished in second place. The squad has also finished fourth once, in 1982, and third twice, in 1958 and 1986.
In the years 1974, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022, Australia qualified for the FIFA World Cup finals on six occasions. Furthermore, they have attempted fifteen times to enter the FIFA World Cup; their first attempt resulted in a defeat to North Korea in 1966.
In their inaugural game against Chile, an Australian team made up entirely of amateur players competing for the OFC drew without scoring, however, they were eliminated from the 1974 campaign without scoring. Australia made up for lost time at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, reaching the Round of 16, when they were barely upset by eventual champions Italy.
Group E – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022
Group E matches feature Germany, Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica, as shown in the table below. The opening matches take place on November 23 at 16:00 and 13:00, respectively, at the Al Thumama Stadium and Khalifa International Stadium, when Spain will play Costa Rica, while Germany will play against Japan. A few days later, on November 27, Spain takes on Germany at 19:00 at the Al Bayt Stadium, and Japan takes on Costa Rica at 10:00 at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. Two matches are scheduled for December 1st at 19:00, with Japan taking on Spain at the Khalifa International Stadium and Costa Rica taking on Germany at the Al Bayt Stadium.

For Germany’s World Cup history, which encompasses three periods: West Germany (during the Nazi era), reunified Germany, and Germany (during the period), FIFA only considers the teams led by the Deutscher Fußball-Bund. Germany’s national football team is one of the most successful at the FIFA World Cup, having won four titles, placed second or third four times, and fourth once. If a campaign is considered successful if it finishes third or better, Germany has won twelve of the nineteen tournaments, which is at least three more than any other nation.
Japan has advanced to the FIFA World Cup finals seven times; the first time was in 1998 when they finished 31st overall after dropping all three of their group games. Masashi Nakayama scored Japan’s first-ever goal in a World Cup Finals game on June 26, 1998, a 2-1 loss to Jamaica. Keisuke Honda is the only Japanese player to have scored in three World Cups (2010, 2014, and 2018).
For the eighth time, they will participate in the FIFA World Cup championships in Qatar in 2022. In the 2018 World Cup group stage, Japan defeated Colombia 2-1 to become the first Asian nation to overcome a South American squad. The team went through to the Round of 16.
One of only eight countries to ever win the FIFA World Cup, Spain did it in South Africa in 2010, their first appearance in the final. The team is among the most active at the World Cup finals, having participated in sixteen of the twenty-two tournaments.
Since it did not compete in the tournament from its inception in 1930 until its debut in the 1990 edition, which remained its lone appearance in the competition during the 20th century, Costa Rica’s participation in the FIFA World Cup is quite recent. Except for the 2010 World Cup, which they narrowly missed, Costa Rica has qualified for every FIFA World Cup held in the twenty-first century.
Group F – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022
Group F matches between Morocco, Croatia, Belgium, and Canada are shown below. The first two games are scheduled for November 23; one is between Morocco and Croatia at 10:00 at the Al Bayt Stadium, while the other is between Belgium and Canada at 19:00 at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium. A few days later, on November 27, Belgium takes on Morocco at 13:00 at the Al Thumama Stadium while Croatia takes on Canada at 16:00 at the Khalifa International Stadium. On December 1st, at 15:00, the final two games of Group F will be played, one between Croatia and Belgium at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, and the other between Canada and Morocco at the Al Thumama Stadium.

In 1970, 1986, 1994, 1998, 2018, and 2022, Morocco made it to the FIFA World Cup finals on six separate occasions. Their best performance came in 1986 when they made it to the round of 16.
The Croatian national football team has participated in five FIFA World Cups since gaining independence in 1991. (In 1998, 2002, 2006, 2014, and 2018). Prior to that, from 1930 until 1990, Croatia was a part of Yugoslavia. Their best performance to date came in 2018 final, which they lost to France 4-2.
Belgium has competed in fourteen FIFA World Cup finals, making their debut at the inaugural competition in 1930, where they finished 11th. The first FIFA World Cup final was officiated by Belgian official John Langenus.
The main enemy of Belgium is frequently the Netherlands. The two countries have met off twice in the history of the FIFA World Cup, with Belgium winning once (USA 1994) and drawing once (France 1998). In the finals, Belgium and the Soviet Union faced off five times, with Belgium winning three and the Soviet Union winning two.
The Canadian men’s soccer team took part in a FIFA World Cup game in 1986. In past World Cup competitions, Canada was unable to claim one of the berths reserved for the North American CONCACAF nations. Canada qualified for the 2022 World Cup for the second time ever after a 36-year layoff.
Group G – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022
Group G matches feature Switzerland, Cameroon, Brazil, and Serbia, as shown in the table below. On November 24, the first two games are played: Brazil vs. Serbia at 19:00 on Lusail Stadium and Switzerland vs. Cameroon at 10:00 on Al Janoub Stadium. Al Janoub Stadium will host Cameroon vs. Serbia four days later, on November 28, at 10:00, while Stadium 974 will host Brazil vs. Switzerland at 16:00. On December 2 at 19:00, Group G’s final two matches a contest between Serbia and Switzerland at Stadium 974 and a match between Cameroon and Brazil at Lusail Stadium will take place.

The first of Switzerland’s eleven appearances in a World Cup final was at the second finals in 1934, where they finished eighth. For the ninth time, they took part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The first time Cameroon participated in the FIFA World Cup finals was in 1982, finishing 17th overall after drawing all three of their group games. Since then, they have made eight appearances in the tournament. Cameroon reached the quarterfinals in 1990 but fell to England 3-2. Roger Milla, who was forty-two at the time, broke the record for the oldest player to ever compete in a World Cup final at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and managed to score. The oldest player to score at the FIFA World Cup finals is Colombian goalkeeper Faryd Mondragón, who broke Milla’s record in 2014. For the eighth time, they will participate in the FIFA World Cup championships in Qatar in 2022.
Brazil is the most successful national team in World Cup history, having won five titles and finishing second, third, and fourth twice each. Brazil became the fourth country to win the FIFA World Cup outside of their native continents, joining Argentina, Spain, and Germany (South Korea/Japan in 2002, Chile in 1962, Mexico in 1970, and the United States in 1994). The only national team to take part in every FIFA World Cup without missing any matches or needing to go through a playoff system is Brazil. Brazil has the best overall World Cup performance in both proportional and absolute terms, with seventy-three wins in 109 games played, a goal difference of 124, 237 points, and only eighteen losses.
From the 1930 FIFA World Cup through the 1938 FIFA World Cup, Serbia was a member of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. From the 1950 FIFA World Cup to the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Serbia was a member of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. From the FIFA World Cup in 1994 to the FIFA World Cup in 2006, Serbia and Montenegro shared the field together. Since 2006, Serbia has participated as an independent country. Serbia thereafter took over all of Yugoslavia’s records after receiving official FIFA recognition as the team’s replacement.
Group H – FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022
The last group of the 2022 FIFA World Cup features matches involving Uruguay, Ghana, Portugal, and Korea Republic, as shown in the table below. Starting on November 24, Uruguay plays the Korea Republic at 13:00 at Education City Stadium, while Portugal takes on Ghana at 16:00 on Stadium 974. On November 28, four days later, Korea Republic plays Ghana at 13:00 at Education City Stadium, and Portugal faces Uruguay at 19:00 at Lusail Stadium. On December 2 at 15:00, the final two games in Group H will be played, with one being between Ghana and Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium and the other being between Korea Republic and Portugal at Education City Stadium.

Uruguay has won four FIFA-sponsored World Football Championships. Football was exclusively played by European teams at the Olympics prior to that. They also triumphed in the inaugural FIFA World Championship, which was organized by the Olympic Committee. Uruguay competed in the 1930 and 1950 FIFA World Cups, which were held entirely separately from the Olympic Games and had specific rules separating professional and amateur football players (Jules Rimet Trophy). Because the actual international football competition, governed by FIFA, began in 1924, FIFA recognizes Uruguay as a four-time world champion and allows the team to wear four stars on their uniforms during official international football matches.
South Korea has taken part in the FIFA World Cup ten times. The group made its debut in 1954 and continued to compete in every competition up until 1986. Their best-ever result of fourth place at the 2002 event, which South Korea and Japan co-hosted, made them the first team from outside of Europe and the Americas to advance to the semifinals. Portugal has made it to the FIFA World Cup finals seven times; the first time was in 1966 when they came in third. Ghana has qualified for four FIFA World Cup competitions: 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022 editions.

In 2006, they were the only African team to go past the group stage of the FIFA World Cup Fixtures 2022, marking the continent’s sixth straight victory. Ghana’s team, which had a median age of 23 years and 352 days and won praise for their better play, was the youngest at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. FIFA ranked the thirty-two competing countries, with Ghana coming in at number thirteen.
